Shahid is 'Sexiest Asian Man' Defeats Hrithik & Zayn Malik

 

Shahid Kapoor. The actor has topped the list of 50 Sexiest Asian Men 2017 for the first time, which is taken out annually by Eastern Eye. Shahid has dethroned chart-topping pop star Zayn Malik, who has been awarded the accolade for the previous two years. Shahid has beaten colleague actor Hrithik Roshan in the voted survey - Hrithik takes the second spot on the list - while stars Zayn Malik and Fawad Khan feature on third and sixth spots respectively. Television actor Vivian Dsena, known for his role in TV show Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani, gets the fourth spot while Siya Ke Ram actor Ashish Sharma ranks fifth. The rest of the names will be released on Friday along with the full list.

 

 

Snoop Dogg, Dr Zeus, Nargis Fakhri unite their creative energies for this stylised Punjabi number

Almost a decade after crooning the title track of Anees Bazmee's 2008 comedy ensemble Singh Is Kinng, renowned rapper Snoop Dogg recorded yet another Indian track. In the recently released Punjabi dance number 'Woofer', he collaborates with popular Punjabi composer-singer Dr Zeus, vocalist Zora Randhawa and Bollywood actress Nargis Fakhri.

'Woofer' sounds like a typical modern Punjabi number but its setting defies its roots. Shot completely in Los Angeles, the song starts with Zeus and Randhawa driving a luxurious car on the streets of the city, before they are stopped by cops for over speeding. Dogg comes to their rescue and claims they are his 'nephews.'

The graffiti on the LA walls adds to the feel of the song as it is no ordinary Punjabi number. It merges the rap culture of the West (by Dogg) with the desi rap sequences of north India (by Randhawa and Zeus). While Zeus' voice seems to have worn out (no surprise there since it has been almost 15 years since his famous single 'Kangna' soared the charts), Dogg proves he has still got it.
Another interesting addition to the song is Fakhri. While it could be argued that her presence is limited to an eye candy, she has also lent her voice to the female part of the song, and she does a fair job at that.

UGC NET 2017 Summary

On behalf of University Grants Commission (UGC), Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducts National Eligibility Test (NET). UGC NET is conducted twice a year in order to select candidates for only Assistant Professor or both Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor in Indian universities and colleges. As per latest media reports, from 2018 onwards UGC NET will be conducted once a year.
It may be noted that candidates qualifying for Assistant Professor post will not be considered for award of JRF. “Candidates appearing in NET should clearly specify in the application form whether they are applying for both JRF and eligibility for Assistant Professor or only for eligibility for Assistant Professor”, informs the official website.
CBSE UGC NET exam pattern is such that it is conducted in three sessions wherein candidates need to appear for three different papers. JRF and Assistant Professor/ Assistant Professor positions are given to candidates basis their performance in all the three papers. However, it may be noted that only 6% of the candidates clearing UGC NET exam are declared eligible for the post of Assistant Professor. Also, the reservation policy for SC, ST, OBC, and PwD candidates is applied to this 6%.
Earlier, it was informed that UGC NET in July 2017 would be suspended. This news led to a lot of protests and confusion as the UGC NET was being cancelled for the first time in 33 years. Sources shared that the main reason behind this was that CBSE was busy conducting other exams at that time. However, now an official statement has been issued informing that CBSE UGC NET would be conducted in November 2017 as per schedule. Check UGC NET exam dates here.
CBSE NET is scheduled to be conducted in 84 subjects at 91 selected UGC NET 2017 exam centres across India.

 

UGC NET 2017 Eligibility

 Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks in their Master’s degree exams (in streams such as Humanities, Social Science, Electronic Science, Computer Science & Applications, etc.) from a UGC recognised college/ university fulfill UGC NET 2017 eligibility criteria. It may be noted minimum percentage required to meet UGC NET eligibility criteria for candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC/ PwD categories is 50%.

Candidates who are appearing or awaiting results for their final year examination of Master’s degree are also eligible to appear for UGC NET 2017. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and will be considered for JRF and Assistant Professor or Assistant Professor only when they pass their Master’s exams with required percentage. “Such candidates must complete their PG degree examination within two years from the date of NET result with required percentage of marks, failing which they shall be treated as disqualified”, informs the official website.
Note for PhD degree holders: PhD degree holders whose Master’s exams completed on September 19, 1991 (regardless of the result declaration date) will be eligible for a relaxation of 5% marks in the aggregate. This means that the minimum percentage required to meet UGC NET 2017 eligibility criteria for such candidates will be 50% instead of 55%.
Age Criteria
• Junior Research Fellowship (JRF): Not more than 28 years as on November 1, 2017. A relaxation of five years is given to SC/ ST/ OBC/ PwD and women candidates. Relaxation is also given to candidates having research experience limited to the period spent on research in the relevant subject of post-graduation degree. Three years relaxation is also given to candidates holding LLM degree.
• Assistant Professor: There is no age limit to apply for the role of Assistant Professor, states the official website.
Exemption (For Candidates Applying for Assistant Professor Role)
• Candidates who are being or have been awarded a PhD degree in accordance with GC Regulations, 2009 will be exempted from the requirement of meeting the minimum eligibility criteria for NET/SELT/SET.
• Candidates who have cleared UGC/CSIR JRF examination before 1989 are exempted from appearing for UGC NET 2017 exam.
• Candidates who have cleared States Eligibility Test (SET) before June 1, 2002 are exempted from appearing for UGC NET 2017 exam. Such candidates can apply for the post of Assistant Professor in colleges/ universities across India on the basis of their SET score. Candidates who have cleared States Eligibility Test after June 1, 2002 can apply for the post of Assistant Professor only in colleges/ universities that are located in the state from where they have cleared the SET exam.
Note: Candidates are recommended to give the UGC NET 2017 exam in the subject of their post-graduation only. Candidates whose post-graduation subject is not covered in the list of subjects given by UGC, may appear in a related subject, informs the official website.
Also, candidates holding a post-graduate diploma/certificate by an Indian University or foreign university awarded foreign degree/diploma/certificate must determine if their diploma/degree/certificate is equivalent to the Master’s degree of recognised Indian universities. Candidates must determine the equivalence from Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi.

 

Step 1: Fill UGC NET Application Form
For UGC NET 2017 registrations, candidates need to fill the application form in the online mode on the official website of CBSE NET (http://cbsenet.nic.in/).
It may be noted that from this year onwards, CBSE has made mandatory for candidates of all states (except J&K, Assam, and Meghalaya) to include their Aadhaar number in the online application form. Therefore, candidates who are not yet enrolled for Aadhaar, need to make application for enrollment immediately by visiting any Aadhaar enrollment center (list available at www.uidai.gov.in), informs the official website.
After filling all details in the application form, candidates need to select the mode of payment option to pay UGC NET 2017 application fee. Candidates can make UGC NET application fee payment either by debit/ credit card or through bank challan generated during online filling of the application form. Note that application fee payment through e-challan should be made in Syndicate/Canara/ICICI/HDFC Bank.

Step 2: Download UGC NET Admit Card
After successful UGC NET registrations, candidates need to download their UGC NET 2017 admit card by entering their application number and password on the official website of CBSE NET.
Candidates need to carry the admit card along with a photo ID proof at the allotted UGC NET exam centre.
No UGC NET admit cards will be sent to applicants by post, states the official website.

Step 3: Appear for UGC NET
Next, candidates need to appear for the National Eligibility Test at their allotted UGC NET 2017 exam centre. UGC NET exam will consist of three papers (conducted in different sessions) in which first two papers will be of 1.25 hours duration and third paper will be of 2.5 hours duration.
